Iqra Anugrah 

Born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia, he went to Japan to study at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Beppu, a small tourist town situated in Oita Prefecture, which can be accessed by 2-hours bus trip from Fukuoka. He finished both his undergraduate study in International Relations at College of Asia Pacific Studies and his Masters in Area Studies at Graduate School of Asia Pacific Studies at the same university.

Currently, he lives in the small city of Athens, Ohio, US and is about to graduate from his second Masters in Political Science at Ohio University. In Fall 2012, he will start his Doctoral studies in Political Science at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois.

He writes wildly about strategic foresight of political situation and international relations in Asian countries, particularly on the issues of civil and political liberties, neoliberalism, religious freedom, progressive politics,  and comparative politics. His articles have been published in major Asian newspapers and online-based publications such as The Japan Times (Japan), Kompas (Indonesia), Koran Tempo (Indonesia), The Jakarta Post (Indonesia) and IndoPROGRESS, an Indonesia-based journal on progressive social and political thoughts in which he also serves as one of the editors.

In 2010, the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan awarded him Swadesh DeRoy Award and Scholarship as distinguished runner-up for his works and contribution in the field of student journalism.

He also maintains Global Politics, a UK-based online political magazine and collective blog as editor. Previously he served as the editor-in-chief for The APU Times, an independent student newspaper at APU.

He has attended and organized a number of academic and student-iniated conferences, seminars, and symposiums, including the prominent St. Gallen Symposium in Switzerland, 2011.

Throughout his studies, he has been awarded numerous scholarships, such as Ritsumeikan APU Scholarship, JASSO Honors Scholarship, Oita Prefectural Government Scholarship, TOEFL Scholarship, Ohio University GRS Scholarship, Northern Illinois University Graduate Assistantship and Japan’s Ministry of Education (MEXT) Scholarship.

This website will mainly serves as a medium to disseminate his thoughts and opinion on the latest social and political phenomena in our society.

Besides doing such serious work, you can find him enjoying art performances, watching latest movies, listening to a wide range of music and traveling to new places.

He is a proud  member and functionary of the Overseas Indonesian Students’ Association Alliance (PPI Dunia), the Indonesian Muslim Students’ Association (PII), and  the Indonesian Students’ Association in Japan (PPI Jepang),
